Bubble Tea or Tea Bubble
This is also something that I've posted earlier in a private forum

According to Nan Yang Siang Pau report yesterday, the price of Puer Tea has increased 3 fold over the last half year. Millions in China are going (frying 'chao' in Chinese) into the tea market from high ranking government officials to ordinary folks. Many tea merchants have become millionaires.
This spring because of the low rainfall, the tea harvest has been low and because of that the price of raw tea has increased 2 to 3 times compared to last year. Tea merchants are invading Yunnan with loads of cash to raid whatever tea they can find.
According to industry insiders this phenomenon (everybody trying to 'fry' or 'chao') is due to 2 reasons. Firstly, it has been said that Puer tea has very positive effect on diabetes and other medical conditions. Secondly, its price keeps on going up.
I can attest to the fact that after drinking Puer my sugar level has dropped substantially. It used to be a bit above the permissible level. My cholesterol has also dropped. But as for the latter, I'm not sure whether it is due to Puer or the medicine that I was taking. However, sugar level, definitely yes.
Well, because of this excessive demand, we will have to be careful now. There is going to be more and more fake Puer out there. Only buy from those you trust, even it may be more expensive.
Btw, one may want to look at HAIO Enterprise listed on the Second Board. They have been accumulating a lot of Puer tea since 5 years ago. Because the weather in Malaysia is one of the best to store Puer (one year storage equivalent to 3 years storage in China), people in China are willing to buy back the tea at a premium
